The owner’s wanted to capture their amazing, lakeside views. The Elevate, 704 Sliding doors with Centor Screens were chosen for their large panel span which gives an almost uninterrupted view. The recessed sills minimise the outdoor/indoor transition and the Centor, retractable screens allow the owners to use these doors during the summer time. The 704 Sliding door has a heavy duty bogey wheel carriage system which allows for smooth operation.
To make a comfortable home, double glazed windows with Energytech glass was used for thermal comfort and solar heat gain control.
Large doors and windows face north-east where the winter sun is most prominent, the roof overhang helps to minimise the heat during the summer months. The natural lighting reduces the need for artificial lighting and ultimately saves on energy costs.
The Magnum, 616 Awning windows with Elevation, electric winders are easy to use. These windows give the home dimension by drawing the eye up towards the stunning, raked, ply ceilings.
Aneeta, Sashless windows and the Magnum, 616 Casement windows encourage a natural airflow and provide outstanding cross ventilation throughout the entire home.
The bathroom window required a flat sill making the 616 windows ideal for the wet area. It’s easy to clean-off and excess water will not pool on the sill. A one way mirror in a 26mm IGU was used to protect the internal film and to capture the lake side view.
By working alongside Tim Lee Architects and ARW Multigroup, we were able to assist our customers with selecting the best windows and doors to complement their key, design aspects such as the rammed earth walls which have an ideal thermal transmittance and thermal storage which evens out temperature fluctuations and the polished concrete floors that have a glass like effect, where the concrete reflects the light and heat to reduce energy consumption.
